Camp Pendleton Triathlon

On Saturday Skyler and I both participated in a Sprint Triathlon at Camp Pendleton military base. The distances for the race are 500 yard swim, 18 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run. Skyler has been sick for about a week so he wasn't feeling the best on the morning of the race. But we both competed to the best of our abilities and we both did amazingly well. The race started with each group running from the sand into crashing waves to do the swim. The waves were very flat when the men started but when it was time for the first group of women, the waves suddenly got very big! So I got a great learning experience on how not to swim into large waves. I struggled at first, but I finally got it. The rest of the race was pretty uneventful for me. It was a hard race and I was pushing but I did pretty well. So my final time was 1 hour 49 minutes. Not bad! I know I can improve on that time for next year. Each race we do is different from every other one. The distances are all a little different. This race had a short swim (probably due to it being in the ocean) and a long bike leg. Overall, it was worth doing for a delicious Red Velvet Sprinkles Cupcake (I need some kind of motivation)! Skyler is still feeling pretty crappy and might not be able to go to work today. It doesn't help that our apartment was a million degrees last night!
