My shoe luck just changed!

Skyler has been busy this past week practicing for this house party that he and his friends are playing at on Friday, August 31 after the Orange Street Fair (maybe I already mentioned this). Anyways, so that has occupied his time for a lot of nights. But I convinced him to take a night off for fun and the Holmes. Thursday night we went out with our new friends Neal and Wendy Holmes. They are very newlyweds and still so adorable together after 8 years! We did a dinner and Disneyland night. I am so glad that we have friends with Disneyland passes because it gives us an excuse to use our passes. So I think the highlight of the night was when Skyler convinced us all to go on the rapids ride at California Adventure. Wendy and Neal had never even seen the ride before. I knew what to expect but they didn't. Skyler told them that they wouldn't get wet if they just moved around. Well, it ended up that Wendy and Neal got soaked, while Skyler and I stayed pretty dry. Actually, I was the driest of the bunch. It was night time and there was no way we were going to dry off quick. Wendy's shoes were even making a squishing sound as she walked. I felt so bad. Hopefully it won't affect our friendship!

For the first time in a long time we had a whole Saturday with nothing to do. It was so nice! So we enjoyed watching the re-run of "The Soup (which is one of the best shows ever)," then we worked out separately. We drove to Orange to look at the construction of our new loft (big dreams!), then to the Volvo dealership to look at the new C30, then we went to South Coast Plaza for major shopping. We figured that since we can't afford to buy a new house or a new car, at least we can let out our frustration by purchasing new clothes and shoes. And let me tell you....we both had a very lucky shopping day. I bought a cute navy blue dress but I needed to find white heels to go with it, but the problem was that white shoes are out right now (something about not wearing white after Labor Day). But we happened to stumble across the clearance section in Macy's. By the way, I loathe sale racks because I do not like sorting through them. Anyways, Skyler and I both happened to glance over and see these perfect Jessica Simpson white heels. I had just seen them in Nordstrom but in black and red. So I picked them up figuring they wouldn't be my size, but they were! I used to have such bad luck with shoes, but not this day. So I mentioned that they were on the clearance rack for 40% off the original price. But when I got to the register I found out that they had an additional 40% off the sale price. My shoes were $24! Talk about a sweet deal. What a great day!
