Lameness

I love my Subaru! It's fast, it has all-wheel drive, guys do a double-take when they see me driving it. So I was so sad when it started having problems two weeks ago. The car is only a year old, but it turns out that it needs to have the short block (?) replaced. Bummer. Luckily it's still under warranty, so it's not going to cost us anything except our time. That's the problem.

Skyler dropped off the car a week and a half ago (to the dealership in Fullerton, about 10 miles away) and then rode his bike back home. They said we would get a rental car for five days, which is good, but the car wouldn't be done until the next Wednesday (today). We calculated it out and figured that we would pick up the rental car on Friday and then return it on Wednesday when the car was ready.

So last Friday morning Skyler drove me down to the dealership and I picked up the rental car. A Mazda 6. It was red, an automatic, missing an antennae (so no radio), and boring. At least it was a car. This morning the dealership called to say that my car won't be done until at least tomorrow, but that I still have to return the rental car today. Lame.

So Skyler and I drove in separate cars down to the dealership again and turned in the Mazda. He drove me and my bike to work. I will be riding my bike home (about 10 miles) after work. Then tomorrow (hopefully) we will have to drive down to the dealership again and pick up my car. 10 miles may not seem like a far distance to the dealership, but it takes about an hour to drive there and deal with paperwork and stuff. That's a lot of wasted time for the morning.

So as much as I love Subaru, I don't like their return car policy for warranty repairs.

I am excited to have my Subaru back to drive in the rain that's forecasted for this weekend. All-wheel-drive is awesome!
