Mt. Baldy Bike Ride

I know I'm weeks behind on my blogging, but just take what you can get.

Before Kauai and before Boise, Skyler and I did a training ride up to Mt Baldy. I really didn't know what to expect. I wasn't sure if I should wear long sleeves or what. I mean, it's the top of a large mountain! Luckily, I opted for a tank and shorts because it was like the hottest day of the year!! I think the temperature got to almost 100 degrees, but it seemed a million times hotter than that when you're cranking your bike up a mountain!

We decided to ride up the steepest part of the mountain because it was the shortest route. Then, we would "coast" down the backside of the mountain for the remainder of the ride. Seriously, it was the hardest climb I've ever done.

We reached the top and took a lunch break at the Mt. Baldy Restaurant. Hamburger and fries tasted so wonderful!

We continued on our way. More climbing and descending. Up and down. Still super hot. We also stopped to help another cyclist with a flat tire. You would think that my bike karma would have helped me in Boise.

Our ride ended up being about 55 miles. I was wiped by the end. Not only did we ride a long distance, but we had some serious climbing in the mix too. Yet I can't wait to do it again!

P.S. Kauai pictures are on their way.
