The Big Day!

Almost exactly one year ago Skyler signed up for Ironman Arizona. Never once did I doubt that he would do it. Skyler is a superior athlete, an inspiration to me and many others. I knew he could do this!

Today, almost a year since he signed up, he is two days away from racing. This will not be an easy day. Not many people can swim 2.4 miles or bike 112 miles or run 26.2 miles, but he will be doing this all in one day!

I am so proud of Skyler. Not just for signing up and not for getting to race morning, but for the journey in between these two days. Whenever he wasn't working, he was training. He dedicated himself to being ready.

Skyler explains it best:

"If you have been wondering why I haven't been around much this year, it is because when I haven't been working, eating (a lot), or sleeping, I have been training for Ironman Arizona. While I have been racing triathlons since 2006 when Dennis (my brother) challenged me to the St. George triathlon, this is my first Ironman and I have not taken it lightly. I have put in thousands of miles on my bike, hundreds of miles running, and hundreds of miles swimming (seriously, I added up my log today) over the last 12 months and feel more ready than I've been for any other race...although who knows what a day like this one will have in store.

The day is almost here and I am stoked to race. The only thing close in comparison to the excitement I feel is the excitement I have to get back to normal life once I cross that finish line and the pain subsides."

No matter what happens on Sunday, I am proud to be Skyler's wife. Now GO FAST!

You guys are way out of our friend league. Waaaaaay cooler than us. We'll be thinking of you Sunday, as we pound down our first of many Thanksgiving dinners. Work it, Skyler. Way to be a supportive wife, Elise. You've always been awesome at that. :)
