Every year Skyler's mom and her sisters have their annual Christmas party. This is the party I look most forward to. We only see most of this family once a year, but they are so much fun. These are the cousins that Skyler grew up with, so of course the same stories get told and re-told every year.
The sisters (Skyler's mom and sisters) put on quite a party. This year we were treated to a production of "The Grinch That Stole Christmas." It turned out quite well despite no practice and commands being shouted from the director.
Santa always pays a visit to our party. He brings one present for each of the kids. Skyler aunt and uncle actually play Santa and Mrs. Claus by renting themselves out to parties and other families, then donate the money to charity. So cool.
Shawn (a cousin of the sisters), Mickie (Skyler's mom), Santa, Teri, Shelly, Denni. Those are some hot mamas!
Besides the amazing food, the highlight of the party is the white elephant gift exchange. Our has a twist though. It's called Hey Right On. Long store short: it's a booby prize and you don't want to get it.
Everyone had to try the Shake Weight. Everyone thought it was funny. I think it would be great to have.
Due to my amazing wrapping job (we got Hey Right On last year), cousin Alan got stuck with the dreaded gift. It's back in the VanGundy family again.
I seriously wish that we got to see this side of Skyler's family more often. When Skyler and I were dating, the annual family Easter party (this holiday gathering has ceased since then) was one of the first family parties I attended. Skyler's family made me feel welcome and part of the family. I love them and am definitely looking forward to our Christmas party next year.
