He's Been Called on a Mission

After waiting a week longer than we thought we were going to, it finally came: Cameron's mission call! Of course it came during the week that my mom was in Utah. Kinda weird that my mom wasn't present at either of my brother's mission call openings. I guess that's not the most important part, right?

So all of Cameron's family and friends gathered at my parent's house. Skyler and I were the last to arrive and Cameron was anxiously waiting to open the envelope. I think he even had the envelope in his hand when we arrived. I don't blame him, I would be anxious to know too.

Cameron ripped opened the enveloped and covered the letter. He didn't want to read ahead. He slowly lowered the cover paper and started reading.

Elder Cameron Joseph Salas, you have been called to serve in the Czech Republic Prague Mission. You will be speaking the Czech language.

WOW!! As you can tell by everyone's faces, we were so surprised. I was expecting Cameron to have a somewhat shocked or scared look on his face, but he was all smiles.

I am so proud of my brother. Proud of him for making the decision to dedicate two years of his life to spreading the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to the Czech people. Elder Salas will be reporting to the MTC on May 4, 2011.
