#OperationBabyComeOut

I think I'm ready to share how Desmond came into this world. At my 38-1/2 week check-up I learned that my body wasn't near ready at all. I, on the other hand, was done being pregnant and felt that he needed to come early. I was worried he was going to be too big. At my 39 week mark I began #OperationBabyComeOut. My plan was to test out every myth to get this baby out soon.

Day #1: I bought a pineapple and ate half of it. I read that pineapples are a food that could induce labor. My tongue was pretty raw. Second, I spent a few hours at the gym. I swam for 45 minutes in the pool doing laps. It felt wonderful to lose the weight of my belly. I also ran on the elliptical machine for 45 minutes. The rest of the day I sat on the couch and did nothing because I felt so uncomfortable.

Day #2: I ate the second half of the pineapple. My second activity was a long walk with Pumpkin. I knew Pumpkin would soon move down the priority totem pole so I wanted to spend as much time as possible with her as I could. That night Skyler and I went to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner. Spicy food is a popular way to induce labor, or at least that's what the Internet told me. I ordered hot buffalo wings and proceeded to burn my lips off. We headed home and started watching a movie. At 11:30pm I took a bathroom break and discovered that my water had just broke. I sat in the bathroom for a few minutes, pondering what was about to happen. Skyler finally came in to ask if I was ok. I told him what happened and we began gathering our stuff for the hospital. The time had finally come and we were both excited! I was having a baby!

We started driving to the hospital and the floodgates opened! My water was gushing out everywhere and wouldn't stop. It was crazy! We arrived at the hospital at midnight and my pants were completely drenched. We checked in at the labor and delivery triage and so begins my labor story...

Spicy food worked! I bet Desmond will also love spicy food when he's a little older.

I love when the water breaks. They have to take you. There is no other option. My water broke both times I was so grateful.
