Welcome to our new home!

The news is finally here and it is great news! But let me go back to Friday. My mom took me out to lunch on Friday. On the way to Pick Up Stix I got a call from Brooke at Countrywide. We talked about our financials and she told us that we qualified for the loft and we were fifth on the list for the five lofts. Of course I was thrilled! I called Skyler and told him the great news. His co-workers took him out to lunch. Brooke told us that Emily from Depot Walk would be calling us later in the day to schedule an appointment to come in to sign paperwork.

Well, five hours later Skyler got that call from Emily, but it was not what we were expecting. She told him that we had been bumped to number six because a lady higher up in line had originally said no, but then had changed her mind and was trying to come up with money for the down payment. Talk about devastation! It was horrible! We had been planning on spending our Friday night celebrating, instead we were too depressed to do anything. I drowned myself into desserts that night. We were so numb from the news. If they would have just told us we didn't get it, then we could have dealt with that, but to be given something and then have it taken away is just plain mean.

Emily told us to come in anyways on Saturday to look at the place in case something happened with the other lady. We begrudgingly went in and it was torture to look at the place that was ours for only five hours. We felt a little better knowing that we were going to take some kind of legal action if things didn't work out in our favor.

I counted down the hours until Monday afternoon when they said they would be calling. Brooke said they had given the lady 72 hours to figure out what she was going to do. I took off work early Monday because I had so much housework to do. I didn't want to do any of it this weekend due to the unpleasantness.

So I was at the grocery store when I got my second call from Brooke. It was definitely a different feeling this time around. She told me that they had talked it over with the City of Orange and the City said that it should not have gone down the way it did and that we were entitled to the loft. So after all of that, we are getting the loft! We are buying a house! Our first house! We are not sure yet when we will be moving in because three of the lofts are ready for a December move-in, but two of them won't be done until next summer. We have to wait to see what the other people in front of us will decide. Hopefully we will get more info when we go in for our meeting tomorrow. So that was how our weekend went down. Exciting, eh?
