Saturday was bike-riding day for us! Skyler went mountain biking in Chino Hills with some guys from church and I went on a road bike ride to Five Sweets in Costa Mesa. Yes, I made a 32-mile round trip trek to a cupcake bakery in Costa Mesa. And it was worth it! And let me tell you that it was not easy. I was hoping that it wouldn't rain on Saturday, and it didn't, but it was super windy instead. My ride down to the beach was so tough. I had a head wind the entire way. I almost gave up and came back home, but I really wanted a cupcake.
So I made it to Newport, got lost for a while, and finally found Five Sweets. It is a cute little bakery with all kinds of sweets, not just cupcakes. I tied my packaged treats to my bike and rode back home. I got home right after Skyler did and we both enjoyed the fruits of my labor. They were amazing! I ended up getting a Red Velvet, Hershey's Chocolate, and Oreo cupcake. I also tried one of their chocolate chip cookies (my other most favorite dessert) and it lived up to its name also! After we finished (2 minutes later), I wished I had bought more or at least not shared with Sky.

i will eat your family
This is Steve--How did you get to the beach? If you took by bike trail by the canal along Brookhurst, then you went right by my old apartment in Costa Mesa. Sometimes, I can hardly believe I ever voluntarily left Orange County. I got a flat tire once by the Newport Pier and had to push my bike about five miles back. We'll have to stop in for a cupcake next time we're in town.
