I Sealed the Deal

I must be doing a lot of fun stuff lately or I am just addicted to blogging (the latter). Last year Skyler bought a mountain bike. When we moved into our new ward (Orange Third) he quickly became friends with some other guys in the ward who mountain bike. So pretty much every Saturday morning he is up at the crack of dawn, off to ride his mountain bike for a few hours. I haven't expressed any desire to get a mountain bike because I am somewhat afraid of the downhill part, along with a possible head over handlebars tumble. For the past two years Skyler and I have raced in the Muddy Buddy (it's a team ride where you leap frog between running and riding a mountain bike), so I have ridden a mountain bike a few times before but still no desire. Well, this past Saturday I went to a women's mountain bike clinic through a local bike shop with Carrie (the wife of one of Skyler's mountain bike buddies). Carrie and I had ton of fun chatting and riding together. She is an experienced rider, but took some time off to have a baby. I learned techniques so I won't have too many falling problems. When I came home I was covered in dirt, my hair was a mess, and I was very smelly. I guess Skyler likes that! Yesterday he spent a good part of the day researching women's mountain bikes. I have a new hobby and soon a new bike!

I love the mountain biking. I have me one too. It's the only mountain related sport I can get into since I hate being cold.

I admit I am a little gun-shy after taking a big fall at the end of a ride on Antelope Island out on the Great Salt Lake. I'm lucky to be alive.

I went riding again a couple times after just to show myself that I could, but I am a scaredy cat.

Amen to Rebekah. You look like a pro. But I guess anyone who looks forward to 30+ mile rides - all for a cupcake - should look like she knows what she's doing. I guess the next question has to be: When's your first x-terra?

Hey you guys! Skyler, I haven't seen you in forever...you're so lucky you're still in sunny Cal. I'm still in Utah, ugh, but oh well. I love your blog. Take care!

I just have to tell you that I am in love with your name and if we ever have a little girl, I am totally naming her Elise.
