Skyler and I just completed our last triathlon of the season! It was the Orange County Triathlon in Mission Viejo and it was an Olympic distance race. So after pushing our bodies to their limits for almost three hours, what did we do?
Since we eat extra healthy during the two weeks before our race, we indulged in some greasy fast food. Del Taco was our food of choice this time. Chili cheese fries never tasted so good!

Also included is soda. I started to crave the bubbly taste of Cherry Coke two days before the race. Well worth the wait!

A newer ritual is dessert. I usually research the closest cupcake store (if available) and buy a couple of cupcakes to review for my blog. This time I ended up just getting a few treats from a local bakery.

Naps are almost a guarantee. Skyler thought we wasn't tired until he laid down on our couch and the warm sun beat down on his face.

We try to keep our body markings on as long as possible. I usually wash around the markings. It serves as a reminder of the race and also a conversation starter. (610 was my number and 27 is my age. I am not actually 27 yet but they go by the age you will be on December 31.)

Last, but not least, we relax our muscles. Skyler set up this little relaxing station in the bathtub downstairs. It's either this or the jacuzzi at the gym.

As much as I enjoy relaxing and eating bad food after a race, I am always anxious to jump back into my training diet and schedule. Since our triathlon season is over for the year, I am going to focus on healing my left leg. I may have mentioned before that I thought I had reoccurring shin splints. Not being able to run much has been torture for me! I finally decided it was worth seeing a doctor about. Well, my doctor thinks I may have a stress fracture in my left tibia. Not good! I am getting a bone scan next week and will be starting physical therapy the following week. As bummed as I am for not being able to run, I am happy to think that my leg could be on its way to recovery. Hopefully I will be back to normal in a few months and ready to start training for my Half-Ironman that is April 4, 2009.
Interested in how well we did? Check out our times!

I just caught up with your blog so I figured I would comment on this one for all of the ones I missed.
#1- That is a really hot leg!
#2- What a cute kid, but he should stay away from accounting if he wants to score later on
#3- That is a freaking rad car and I want to drive it soon
#4- Mammoth is always fun. I need to teach Jen how to snowboard this year. So I wonder if Skyler may have stumbled upon Steven Foster while he was riding but just ignored it so he wouldn't have to be questioned by the authorities.
#5- The Office is the best and I can't wait to see what happens with Pam and Jim. I heard that they are bringing back Roy so I am sure that will cause some problems. Also I hate and love how stupid Michael Scott is. Why did he rip up those tickets? He is so dumb!!!
I kinda like commenting once for five blog entries. I think I will do that more often.
i love the shocked pic of skyler in the tub! james would have killed me if i posted a pic like that! hillarious. oh del taco...so funny because i was thinking about it right before i read your blog and now im craaaaving it! and cherry coke is one of my prego cravings that i rarely give into, but it tastes sooo good!
