Teen Pregnancy

I recently came across a show on MTV called "16 and Pregnant." My first thought was disgust because I was afraid that this show would glamorize teen pregnancy. But the show intrigued me and I watched it. I saw five girls struggle with being pregnant and then trying to be a teen mom. Their lives changed, they had to grow up, lost their friends, and didn't graduate from high school.

But then there was Catelynn. Catelynn and her boyfriend Tyler decided from the beginning that they were going to put their baby up for adoption. Their families were set against it. Tyler's dad even tells him to "man up" and keep the baby. His dad said that "all the baby needs is love." Tyler was so upset at his dad because he was a walking contradiction, a man who was in jail most of Tyler's childhood.

But somehow these two teenagers were stronger than most people will ever be. They knew that their baby would be better off with another family. They made the hardest decision they will ever make. They gave another couple their baby girl. Obviously, Catelynn and Tyler made a huge mistake by getting pregnant when they are only teenagers. But they were so courageous in their decision to give their baby up for adoption. They said they only were thinking of their daughter. These teenagers were not selfish, as most teenagers are. They were thinking of their baby. It was refreshing to see teenagers make a wise decision.
