I'm not even going to mention LOST.
Saturday Skyler and I got to watch Stage 7 of the Amgen Tour of California in downtown LA. This was the first time there has been a cycling race in LA since the 1984 Olympics. We were set-up about 50 meters from the finish line. Since the race was a Time Trial stage, we got to see each individual cyclist ride by us three times. It was pretty awesome!
Before the event officially started, the course was open for amateurs to ride. Some of the top triathletes were there to give it a whirl. We missed watching them (because we raced in a duathlon that morning--more to come on that), but that doesn't mean we missed seeing them all together.
I just happened to glance around the crowd and noticed an unusually fit woman. I recognized her hair and smile immediately. It was Chrissie Wellington - the top woman triathlete in the world! No other woman triathlete even comes close. Chrissie won Ironman Kona (the world championship Ironman) in 2007, just one month after racing in and winning her first Ironman. She won Ironman Kona in 2008 and 2009 also, even beating a majority of the pro men. She's an animal.
Luckily, we had a camera and I was able to get a photo with her. Of course I got nervous and could barely speak to her. I must have said something really funny or really stupid because she's laughing in the photo. It was really inspiring to meet someone that I look up to. Triathlon is a huge part of my life so this was a pretty cool moment for me.

Um...I can't believe you ran into Chrissy Wellington. She is an animal. We watched Ironman Kona and were totally blown away by her athleticism.
Too cool Frame that one and hang it on the wall.
