We're Boring

Someone asked me to post something besides races on my blog. Looking back at the last month of posts I realized that he was right. But then I got to thinking and realized that racing is pretty much our lives right now so of course I want to write about that. Lucky for you though, after tonight, we won't have any races for most of the summer.

So let me talk about something else: softball. Skyler and I have been playing on his agency's softball team for the past three months. No, this isn't his new agency, but his old one. Skyler is such a good softball player that they didn't want to lose him and asked him to play again. I tag along with him and get to play since there aren't many girls on the team.

Last night was our last game (since we will be out of town next Monday). We played the last place team. We beat them a few weeks ago, so I assumed the game would be a slam dunk. BUT our pitcher was having a bad night and the other team took advantage of that. They stopped swinging and walked their way to a 7-run lead near the end of the night. Of course we were all frustrated because we actually like to play and will swing at bad pitches so that we can have a fun time.

Well, our coach (Skyler's old boss) had enough. We were the home team and right before our last at-bats he gathered us around and said something like, "I don't like doing this, but I am telling all of you to take the first pitch." So that's what we did.

Six walks later our tying run came up to the plate. He hit a nice double and we were in tying position. The other team was furious. They complained to the ump and he replied, "You guys didn't hit the entire game." That shut them up. One more walk, then our last batter was ready to hit. All he had to do was walk, but he really wanted to hit. A nice double ended the game. Victory was sweet, but we all felt a little bad for taking advantage of their bad pitcher.

Pizza always tastes better after a win.
