The Newport Beach Temple

Since we celebrated our five year anniversary earlier this month (five years!), I thought I would post a few pictures of the LDS Newport Beach Temple, the place where we got married. Our good friend Ian took these pictures on our wedding day.

This place has a lot of significance to me. I remember when it was announced that it would be built, I decided that's where I wanted to get married. Skyler and I had our first kiss on the temple grounds, just a few days after the groundbreaking ceremony. The construction of the temple took place during the time that Skyler and I dated. We got engaged in March 2005. I really wanted to get married here, but it still was not completed.

The day after we got engaged, it was announced that the temple was completed and would be dedicated after summer was over. It was too much of a coincidence. It was settled, we would get married there.

We picked September 9th as the day, but I couldn't get a straight answer if the temple would be open by then. Looking back, I am surprised that I didn't stress out about it more. I had a wedding date, invitations waiting to be sent, but no official wedding location yet. A month before our planned wedding date, I finally got our wedding scheduled. Whew! We would be one of the first couples to be married in the Newport Beach temple.

I call it my temple because it's where I became Mrs. Skyler Wallace. I think that it was built just for me. I love visiting it and remembering that special day.
