I am starting to really appreciate the small things that I never had before. Today I got into my car that was parked in our garage to drive to work. My car was not cold and covered with dew. I realized it half way to work when I didn't have to turn on my heater.
I have a few pictures from the last two weeks or so. We didn't have the internet for one whole week at our place and it was semi-frustrating. But now it is up and running. Oh, and we splurged on a DVR. No more VHS tapes to record our favorite shows. I even recorded my first show last night...Project Runway. I know it is normally on Wednesday nights, but the great thing about cable is that they repeat their shows so often that you can catch up on your favorite shows when you miss them.
For Christmas Eve dinner my family did something different this year. We did a Japanese/sushi dinner instead of the normal ham/potatoes/green beans/rolls, etc. Skyler was in charge of preparing most of the dinner. My grandpa had never tried sushi before (pretty weird because he travels a lot), but he said he knew it would be good because Skyler was preparing it. Skyler is a well-known chef/cook in my family.

The funniest part of dinner was when my littlest sister Holly said she really liked the unagi, which is eel. She had eaten a few pieces so Skyler felt it was safe enough to tell her that it was eel. She was mid-bite and immediately sit it out. She looked disgusted. I told her that Skyler was just kidding so she continued to eat (and like) the unagi. My family is funny like that!

After looking through the many, many pictures we took on Christmas Eve and Day, this was pretty much the only one of Skyler and I together.

On Friday, December 28, seven months after putting in our application to get this house, we finally got our keys! This is me physically taking the keys from Sandra, who closed her eyes at that exact moment. She reminds me of Lucille 2 from Arrested Development. She inspired us to begin watching our DVDs of Arrested Development again, since we were without cable for our first week.

Friday night we brought over all of our fragile stuff. You should see what our place looks like now with all of our stuff in it. Everything is coming along great. I really enjoy getting our house set up.

The most exciting news of the week is that we are going to Mammoth next weekend. We are super excited. Everyone else has already been at least once this season (Skyler is going tomorrow), but this will be my first trip. Can't wait! It is supposed to be snowing all week until we get here. Booyee!

I had sushi today and it was great. I hope that one day my family will be open minded enough to have a Sushi Christmas Dinner. And why is it that people freak out about good food when they find out what it is that they are eating? My brother Scott has still never had an avocado because it is green.
I am so excited about your new house. I was especially excited to read your shout-out to Lucille 2 from Arrested Development. It's our favorite show. We've been watching the DVD's too recently...weird. Anyway. Hope your new home is happy. Treat each other kindly and it always will be.
that is so exciting about the house! Where is it?!
