Runs in the Family

This morning Skyler and I ran in the Get Fit 5K in Placentia (formerly known as the Earth Week Run). This was a little warm-up for our upcoming triathlon season. The run portion of our first triathlon in St. George is a 5K.
I convinced my dad to do the race with us. I am so proud of my dad. He did such a great job. The main part of my happiness comes from the fact that he didn't make any excuses for not doing the race. I tried to get many people to do this race with us. My dad could have used the best excuse of all...he has been working extremely long hours due to tax season (which just ended a few days ago). He probably hasn't had the time to get to the gym lately because he has had a one-track mind on taxes for the past 2 1/2 months. But he agreed to do it and it was fun to participate in a race with my dad!
Skyler beat his last year's time by 90 seconds, I think. He also did so amazing! Skyler has been mountain biking a lot lately and I am sure that helped build up the muscles in his legs. He is going to kick my behind in our triathlon next month because the bike portion is the longest portion of the race.
And me....well, I placed second in my age category (missed first by 3 seconds). Last year I was fifth. I improved my time a ton this year....by a whopping 3 1/2 minutes (no wussyness this year)! I got this nifty plaque and it was presented to me by the lovely Miss Placentia. I am pretty proud of myself and I feel ok saying that. This was my fastest 5K time since high school! Looking forward to our triathlon in 3 weeks!

The salt lake marathon was today. I won an award for being the most pregnant woman to participate. Only 11 days away from my due date now. My time was slower than last year, but I am pretty much nine months pregnant at this point.

Okay that was a lie. Well, most of it. The Salt Lake Marathon was today, but I didn't participate this year. Instead I ate a Chic-Fil-A for lunch, then over ate out with friends for dinner and now my feet are swollen. I sort of feel like and idiot, because I know better. Oh well.

Thanks for being a good example and a beacon in the night.
