My Favorite Place in the USA

I can't hide my love for Lake Mead! It is my favorite place to go, at least in the United States. Costa Rica is my favorite all-around place, but I don't go there nearly as much. This weekend we experienced the best conditions possible: beautiful weather, fun friends, and great food. What more could you ask for?

We were lucky enough to have the Alleman's join us. Since they live in Las Vegas, it was only logical that they drive the short distance to the lake. Jessett was a highly favored contribution because she brought so many tasty treats!

Mikey and Jennifer also joined us for the first time. Mikey started off the day with his single-ski tricks. It was Jen's first time behind the boat and she surprised us all with her wake surfing skills. She also won the gold medal in the "Dive with Smallest Splash" category.

Although first-timers to us, Wendy and Neal are not new to the lake scene. I actually started my love of boats with Wendy's family. Wendy's dad taught me how to wakeboard. So of course they caught on quick to wake surfing.

It is a rare occasion if we take a trip without Kenny and Jill. They are experts at wake surfing and know how to have fun! This is their third season of coming up to Lake Mead with us.

Since Mikey started off the day with the single ski, Skyler had to follow. It amazes me that someone would want to be pulled behind a boat going that fast.

If you need to know how to do something, ask Skyler. He is good at everything, but very humble about it. He is also a great teacher. He helped teach Jessett, Jen, and Wendy how to wake surf.

Each time we come, I try doing new things on the wake surf. This summer I was working on carving. If you can't tell by the look on my face, I finally figured it out!

This is what I would like to be doing right now. Instead I am at work (blogging).

I mentioned before that Jen won a gold medal. Well, we all competed in Lake Mead Olympics 2008. Other events included: Biggest Splash off the side of the boat (gold: Kenny), Highest Push out of the water while treading water (gold: Skyler), Bocce Ball (not sure who won), and Sudoku Challenge (the one brain game).

The boys also competed in the Long Jump over a small water inlet.

Gold went to Neal. Must be that police training!

Another popular boy event was Cliff Diving. Mike and Skyler were the only ones who actually dove and Mike took the gold.
Everyone got along and we had a great time! I wish we could do this every weekend. Hopefully Skyler and I can slip one more weekend this summer.

Why don't you guys get a life.

Gosh, get out of the house once in a while, the sun is shining, the birda are singing.

Oh the jealousy in my heart of your weekend at the lake. Looks like a blast. We will miss you. We were sad we did not get a chance to see you guys one last time. Craziness before we took off. BTW we have arrived in CO and are loving our new little town. Have to post pic of the most aweful mullet we have ever seen. We love it here!
