Back to normal posting...yeah! Well, the biggest news for us is that we signed up to do the California 70.3 Ironman on April 4, 2009. It is half of an Ironman and will be a 1.25 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run (half marathon). We have been spectators at this race for the past two years, but the time has come for us to be in the race.
So I am feeling pretty good about myself because this is the hardest race I ever want to do. Then, I was humbled.....

You guys are our idols.
If any one can do this it is you guys!!!
Good luck!!!
i totally agree with jessett. i wish i could do that stuff! you two are amazing! but i am truly amazed and touched by the father/son who have done over like 56 races! that is amazing and true love for sure.
So besides making me feel ungrateful and lazy, that video was pretty touching, particularly at the end when you were certain that guy was actually aware of what was being accomplished. tres cool.
Well thanks...I needed a good cry. Steve came in the room just as it was ending and saw me sobbing. He thought I just got the call that my grandpa died.
I want to do it too. What a goal. Count me in for like 2015 or something. I did my first one Tri last weekend. It was with my brothers ward and not a big deal, but hey you gotta start somewhere. 1/3 mile swim, 13 mile bike ride and 3 mile run. Loads of fun. During the run my legs felt like rubber and my feet like concrete. Crazy feeling.
Only made it a mile of the run but I am only four months post pardum and have a torn miniscus in my knee that needs to be surgically repaired. I probably shouldn't be doing stuff like this, but if I have to have surgery I may as well thrash it as much as possible to be sure I get my monies worth from the surgeon.
Thanks for the inspiration.
I'd love to cast a stone at you guys for being sabbath breakers and racing on the sabbath and all, but our plans include stalking the M-TV music awards happening that day. Also not a real great sunday activity. What time is your race? We'll come spectate if we can.
we watched that video in my emt class and i cried like a baby. that is seriously the best story ever, i totally cried again just now watching it!!
