A Day Without a Car

Since Skyler sold his car, and mine was in the shop, we had no cars yesterday. For the past 24 hours I have spent on a lot of time on my bikes. Follow me on my bike adventures...

First, let me introduce my bikes. I currently have three bikes. I used two of them yesterday (I rode my mountain bike Wednesday night, it is not neglected).

Meet my Road Bike. It is 3-1/2 months old. It is fast!

Meet my Beach Cruiser. It is 3 years old. Skyler bought it for me right after we got married.

Meet my Mountain Bike. It is 2 months old. It is dirty, but it should be.

Ride #1: Training Ride on Road Bike (Thursday morning)
To bike trail: 1.5 miles
To beach: 12.0 miles
To snake: 4.6 miles (I have seen two snakes within the past day. The first was a baby rattler that Carrie and I saw on our mountain bike. The second was about ten times bigger and blocking the bike path. Of course, for the rest of the day, every stick I saw looked like a snake. In case you haven't figured it out, Indiana Jones and I share a fear.)
To home: 8.9 miles

Ride #2: Running Errands on Beach Cruiser (Thursday afternoon)
To WaMu: 1.7 miles
To Hollywood Video: 1.1 miles
To home: 2.5 miles

Ride #3: Ride to Car Repair Shop in La Habra (Thursday evening)
Home to Trail Exit: 4.4 miles
On dangerous streets where people in cars don't notice bikers at all to Repair Shop: 9.7 miles

Ride #4: Bike to Work in Brea (Friday morning)
Home to Trail Exit: 5.2 miles
Streets to Office: 5.1 miles

I will be riding to my parent's house after work (Ride #5: 1.5 miles) where Skyler will reunite me with my car. I have always loved riding bikes, but I think I have had enough for a while!

P.S. Total mileage: 58.2 miles!

If I could I would ride my bike everywhere. But out where I live the roads are not wide enough for a bike rider. I have all most been hit twice. For the moment I have my bike set up in my bedroom on its trainer. Riding with the A/C on and the ceiling on its the best!! Remember I live in Arizona. Tell me again why I live here?? Miss you!!

Oh my heck! That is a ton of biking! I thought I was tough with like 4 miles a week. It is good to know that someone has multiple bikes. I have two.
