Italy Day 13

The next day we took a cab to the Siena train station and began the last leg of our trip. The train ride from Siena to Rome took about 2-1/2 hours.

Phase 10 was one of the two games that we brought on the trip. The other one was Travel Sequence (Mike and Jessett--we need to play Sequence soon!). I seem to have lost my touch because Skyler dominated at both games.

We arrived in Rome! We were finally there! We checked into out hotel, which was just a few blocks from the train station. After a short nap, we left to see a little bit of Rome. The first place we stopped was Cappucini Crypt. I wish I had pictures to show how disturbing/interesting this place was (no pictures allowed). There were five rooms on display. Each room was decorated with bones from 4,000 exhumed monks. Even the chandeliers were made of bones. It was interesting to see how the bones were artistically arranged, but at the same time it was creepy.

The second place we visited was the Hard Rock Cafe. Because after almost two weeks of eating pasta and pastries, we just wanted some french fries. It was so good!

We walked around and looked at a lot of buildings that we knew nothing about. That night we didn't want to do any more touristing, just walking and enjoying Rome. We had three more days to explore and learn about everything.

Later that night we happened to walk by a movie theater near our hotel. We noticed that Angels and Demons was playing...in English. The movie came out the day before we left on our trip so we hadn't had the chance to see it yet. This was the perfect opportunity! We saw the movie and left the theater excited to see Rome and all of the places that the movie features.
