On this particular day I joined Skyler on my mountain biking as he did his run. This was a very strange day. Earlier that morning I went out for a road bike ride with my friend Kelly. We rode through Santiago Canyon and during the last 6 miles we were dumped on by lots of rain. It was my first time riding my road bike in the rain, and although it was a bit sketchy, it was also a lot of fun. The second we returned to Kelly's house, the sun started shining. Next, we decided to do a short 30 minute transition run. About 5 minutes into the run it started pouring rain again. It was pretty refreshing. I really like running in the rain.
So I arrived home just in time to catch Skyler as he's about to go out for a trail run in Santiago Oaks. I traded bikes and hopped in the car with him. We arrived at Santiago Oaks and the sun was blazing. Talk about a change in weather...it went from pouring rain to 90 degrees. I was not prepared for such a hot ride.
Pumpkin seriously LOVES trail running. It's like that's where she's meant to be. I could swear that she has a huge grin on her face the entire time we run. Skyler ran with her on the leash while I tried to keep up with them. Skyler has become such a fast runner. I am really proud of all of the time and training he has put in to improve his run. It's really going to help him at IMAZ.
If it's a quiet day on the trails, sometimes we'll let Pumpkin off her leash so she can run free. This doesn't happen very often mostly because the trails are usually crowded. She's pretty good about staying close by, but if a rabbit happens to run by, then she's gone.
I don't know what's with this crazy weather we've been having lately, but I wish it would have been this hot during the summer. Tomorrow is my last triathlon of the season. I'm sad that it's over, but happy to focus on my weaknesses this winter during the off-season.
