New Bikes

--Drum roll-- Introducing our new triathlon bikes! Ta-da! Skyler and I picked them up on Saturday. Skyler got a Kuota K-Factor and I got a Cervelo Soloist. These bikes are both a few steps up from the bikes that we had before. We will be so much faster!

Skyler's bike is all carbon fiber, which makes it super light. Mine has an aluminum frame, but is comparable to Skyler's bike. He is still way faster than me though!

The difference between a road bike and a triathlon bike is the positioning of the body. With a triathlon bike, you body is in an aero position. It also utilizes aero bars. Road bikes don't come with aero bars, but you can add them on. Skyler had them on his old road bike, but I didn't, so this is a new thing for me.

We took them for a little test run today. We both agree that they are so much smoother and faster than our old bikes. Can't wait to use mine in our next race (July 19th - Camp Pendleton)!

Side note: While in Encinitas we stopped by a pastry shop that I had read about online called Elizabethan Desserts. We bought two cupcakes. I reached cupcake nirvana! I had the best cupcake I have ever tasted (that's dang good coming from me)! Of course I didn't have my camera, but I foresee myself making a trip back there soon!

Super cool! You look at least a few degrees cooler on those bikes rather than any former bike you may have had.

Sky--did you know that Hoffmann is also into Triathalons? He came to visit me this weekend (he lives in Spokane, WA)with the wife and kids and we talked about your triathalons and I guess he is doing his first one in two weeks.

Inspirational. Can't wait to get into triathalons.

By the way...if you are interested you can link his blng from mine. He is the "Jeff and Amber" link.

Very nice. Time to save up for a new wheelset- that will make you guys even faster. I had to pull the trigger and get a new bike too! We'll have to ride sometime.

Nice upgrade!! Skyler, I wanted to inform you that the hunt is on for a new pair of Cheetah shoes. As soon as I have those you are toast! No amount of training or even a special bike will help you then, victory is mine!!!!
