Every chance we got, we stopped at the little fruit stands to grab a few pieces. I think I'm enjoying a nectarine in this picture.
Skyler was getting to be quite talented at taking pictures while riding a bike. I needed all of my focus to keep my bike from falling over. That's an accomplishment considering we had 50 pounds of gear (each) attached to our bikes.
We arrived in Faenza and followed the signs to a 4-star hotel called Hotel Vittoria. Since Faenza is not a popular tourist destination, the price was very reasonable and we slept in a bed for the first time since Sunday (it is now Friday).
The town was very quaint and very much how I pictured Italy would look. The first place we visited was the the International Museum of Ceramics. Who knew that Faenza is noted for the manufacture of faience, majolica ware glazed earthen ware pottery? The musuem was really nice and they had a lot of really old ceramics, as well as newer stuff. It was the first (of many) museums that we visited in Italy.
We walked around the city and took a lot of pictures. We found this little pond with lily pads in it. I don't know that I've ever seen lily pads naturally before. It was pretty cool.
For dinner we got a recommendation to eat at a restaurant called Zingaro. BEST MEAL IN ITALY! There's no way you could have found this restaurant on your own. It was hidden in between streets. We ordered pizza for dinner and it was, hands down, the best pizza we've ever eaten (well, actually I'm not sure if Skyler has eaten better pizza in New York), as well as the best meal we had in Italy!
Every time we would get pizza, we would each order our own. I would eat half of mine and Skyler would eat his and the other half of mine. It worked out quite well.
I was a little nervous for the next day because I knew we would be doing a lot of climbing on our bikes through the mountains.
