Race Report: OC Chili Winter Trail Run Series #2

The second race in the OC Chili Winter Trail Run Series took place on Saturday, March 12. Skyler was in Mexico, so my biggest cheerleaders (Skyler and Pumpkin) didn't get attend. But there were a few more additions at this race. Carrie had a try at her first trail run race (she's done off-road triathlons before, but this was the first run-only race). Another friend, Leanne, joined us for her first trail race too. She's gearing up to run the OC Half Marathon in May.

Last month I finished the 4.6 mile course in 42:28. They changed the course a bit to avoid a bottleneck at the beginning, which extended the course. This time I finished 4.9 miles in 40:11. Longer course and faster time! This earned me a first place finish in my age group and sixth woman overall. This puts me at second woman overall for the series.

Carrie didn't think chili would taste good that early in the morning, but after running hard for an hour it was the perfect post-race snack. I seriously love the food at this series. Carrie finished in 48:49, earning her a fourth place finish in her first trail run. Awesome!

Leanne also finished way faster than her goal time. It must have been the skirts!

There is one more race in this series, which takes place on April 16. Come join me for the last race. Holly, I'm talking to you. You need to show the other teenage girls who's boss.
