He's Crazy but Hot

Last month Skyler got offered an entry into a prestigious race called the Leadville 100. It's a 100 mile mountain bike race in Leadville, Colorado that starts at 10,000 feet. This is not a race for the weak. You can only get in by lottery, but because of work connections, he gained entry. Usually you train for months, even years before you attempt this race, but Skyler had 6 weeks from the day he found out. We discussed his options and decided he should go for it.

So you know what that means? I don't see much of my husband anymore. (j/k, oh wait...I'm not) He's been riding his bike every minute that he's not working. Two 5-hour rides every weekend, riding the trainer when we're watching SYTYCD, and late-late-night bike rides are what his life has been like the last few weeks. I'm excited for this opportunity for him, but am sad that I don't get to cheer him on in Leadville. I'll definitely be cheering from home though.

Part of his training is to do crits. Criteriums are bike races where you race around in a circle, usually 1-2 miles long, for an hour. You race with other cyclists of your same ability. They are fast-paced races, something us endurance athletes are not used to. Last week Pumpkin and I spectated Skyler's crit in Long Beach. Don't be jealous that my husband is so good looking.
