Torture by way of Jeans and a Lukewarm Shower

I definitely blame Skyler's family for the pain that I am in right now! I just need someone to blame for this, but it is actually not their fault at all (at least not directly!).

Part One, The Set-up: So all of this started on Friday afternoon when I received a call from my sister-in-law Lisa who said that they were driving from Idaho to visit California. (Side note: Yes, we were supposed to be in Lake Mead this weekend, but Skyler's dad couldn't go so then there was no point in going when the father of the family would not be there.) Back to the story, Lisa said they would be arriving Friday night and they wanted to surprise Skyler's mom, who didn't know that her son and family were coming into town. Skyler called his mom and made her cancel her Friday night plans because he had something important to tell her. We met Skyler's mom at the Spectrum to take her out to dinner. Jeff and Lisa were about 30 minutes behind us so we had to entertain Skyler's mom until the surprise would happen. I knew exactly what Skyler's mom was thinking when Skyler told her that he had something important to tell her. I felt bad because I knew I would not be delivering the news that she wants to hear so bad! (In case it's not obvious, she wants little Skyler babies) But when she turned around and saw her son Jeff walking up to her, I think she forgot all about Skyler's deception. She was sooo excited to see her other son and his family. They moved to Idaho last year and this is their first visit since Christmas. Dinner was great (Chessecake Factory) and it was fun to hang out with family.

Part Two, The Happening: Saturday Skyler's brother and family went to the beach and wanted us to come with them. We made the most of the day and rode our bikes down to the beach. We hung out with the family for a few hours and then headed back home. I got in the shower and was surprised when the hot water started burning my legs. I looked down and noticed that the backs of my legs were bright pink. Noooooo! I was fried! When I got out of the shower Skyler showed me his bright pink back. Somehow we missed some important spots with the sunscreen. I have been well educated on the importance of sunscreen on the joints. I am guessing that my sweat (from the bike ride) washed off the sunscreen on my legs. It doesn't even matter how it happened, it just hurts.

Part Three, The Aftermath: Yesterday we had a big party for Father's Day at our place. We invited all of Skyler's family. It was the substitute for the failed Lake Mead trip. There were 16 people there. I was able to compare sunburns with my sister-in-law Lisa. I guess she got fried too, but her sunburns have encompassed her whole body. I feel so bad for her. She has the same problem of sunburn on the knee joints too. The problem with knee joint burns is that it hurts to walk. Luckily, yesterday I was wearing a dress so there wasn't anything else adding to the pain. I have been rubbing Aloe Vera on my legs for the past two days and taking Advil for the pain. This morning I took a shower, the first one since I found out about the sunburns, and it was torture. Hot water feels horrible on sunburned skin. I had to take a non-hot shower and that is almost as bad. After my lukewarm shower, I had to get dressed for work. I don't know why I thought jeans were a good idea, but that's what I ended up leaving the house wearing. So now I am at work, not wanting to move out of my chair. Maybe I will use a sick day and go soak at the pool at the gym.

Sunburns do beat freezing wind snow burns! So be grateful:) What a happy thought of no more full winters of snow--YEAH! Can't wait to go to the beach. I hope lil D is a beach baby.
